66 days prior to my 33'rd birthday I designed 33 picture frames over a period of 33 days. For the next 33 days I fabricated the 33 picture frame designs. Frames were initially fabricated from white oak, then a combination of white oak and anodized aluminum and finally all anodized aluminum. Each frame design was named after a character from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. I designed the project as a quest, attempting to discover a way to incorporate product design into my daily life as an architect.
I presented my designs to local retailers for potential interest in their manufacture and sale. The "Knight" frame was selected by local manufacturer Modulus for overseas production. The Knight frame was produced in 2 sizes and 2 wood species. The frame's design allowed for either a portrait or landscape orientation depending on the location of the long and short wood pegs that hold the components of the frame together.
